Kathleen Forrest
Painting is one form of creative expression. I feel at one with nature. Painting En Plein Air is such a joy.
I began creating art seriously while on sabbatical in 2004. I wanted to spend as much time outside as I could at that time. Being with nature and observing with the intent to paint is a meditation of sorts. While living in Ann Arbor, Michigan I was taking classes, going to my studio (aka the Metro Parks), and enjoying the mixing and glazing of oil paints. While on vacation in Playa del Carmen I sold my first oil pastel painting directly off the easel. Finding creative joy while painting encouraged me to create a studio in Ann Arbor, MI. Since then I've had a studio in Sandusky, OH, Catawba Island, OH, Shaker Heights, OH, Allahabad, India, Carrboro, NC and now Asheville, NC.
Whenever I've traveled I've also sketched and taken photos I could paint when I returned home. Some of the places are France, Belgium, Italy, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
